Simplenews registration option on user site registration form - possible?

I would like to be able to put a newsletter subscription checkbox on the main user profile registration form, so that a new user could sign up for the newsletter during the site registration process. I use Simplenews. Is this possible, or is there another newsletter module which allows this integration? I'd rather they not have to go through a separate process to subscribe.
